Protecting our lifestyle

Cr Hermann Vorster is dedicated to protecting the lifestyle locals expect – and deserve. Priorities are tackling traffic congestion, boosting community safety and looking after the environment.

Key local initiatives include: ridding the area of drug crime; expanding CCTV; improving lighting; upgrading busy intersections; addressing neglect and maintenance issues; investing in parks and sporting facilities; planting thousands of trees annually; and rehabilitating local catchments and reserves.

As a community activist, he believes growth must be supported by better infrastructure and adequate developer contributions.

Easing traffic congestion

Councillor Hermann Vorster fights against inadequate developer contributions to help ensure growth is supported by proper infrastructure.

He believes new development should enhance the local community (not undermine it) by providing sufficient onsite parking and contributing to overdue road upgrades.

His focus is upgrading our busiest intersections to keep traffic flowing – and to boost safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Boosting community safety

More needs to be done to keep our community safe. Councillor Hermann Vorster takes a no nonsense, zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour.

He secures funding for fixed safety cameras in our commercial centres — and relocatable cameras to tackle emerging threats. Hoodrat hiding places are targeted and destroyed.

Community crime fighters including Volunteers in Policing, Crime Stoppers and Neighbourhood Watch can always rely on his financial and in-kind support.

Upgrading parks and facilities

Councillor Hermann Vorster believes smart, targeted investment can make better use of our existing community open spaces.

He has lit several soccer fields, constructed the Gold Coast’s largest outdoor gym and delivered permanent infrastructure to support community events throughout the community.

Parks including Robina Common, Frascott Park and Central Park have received major upgrades improving amenity, supporting passive recreation and boosting safety.
